Why track your habits?
A habit tracker gives you a visible record of the things you want to do more often. Looking back through your check-ins can help you decide what to keep doing and what to adjust.
- Keep the habit somewhere you’ll see it when you check in.
- Record what you did so you have something to look back at.
- Notice small efforts that might otherwise slip your mind.
- Switch between Week and Month to see when a habit fits into your routine.
A tracker won’t build the habit for you, and no tool can promise a number of days that makes it stick. Read more about the timeline for building a habit.
How to use a habit tracker well
A tracker needs to fit your real life. Try these suggestions and adjust them as you go.
- Start with one or two habits. Keep your list short enough that checking in feels manageable.
- Anchor each habit to something you already do. For example, “After I put the kettle on, I’ll stretch.” Let that familiar moment remind you to try the new action.
- Make the action small. Two minutes of reading is a clear place to start. You can do more when you have time.
- Plan a return after a missed day. Pick the next opportunity that works for you. There’s no need to catch up on empty boxes.
- Look back over several weeks. If a habit rarely gets a tick, try a smaller version or a different time of day.

What should you track?
Choose something you want to do a little more often. You could start with a daily walk, a stretch after lunch or a few minutes outside.
Movement
A walk, a stretch break or some strength work.
A moment for yourself
A minute of breathing, a short meditation or a gratitude note.
Daily routines
Water with lunch, an earlier bedtime or time outside in daylight.
Everyday life
Reading a few pages, tidying one thing or messaging someone you love.
Pick one that feels easy enough to try today. For more ideas, browse our list of habits to track.
Why there are no streaks here
A streak counts consecutive days. Some people enjoy seeing that number climb. If keeping it going adds pressure for you, a record of individual check-ins may suit you better.
This tracker keeps every day you’ve marked, even when there are gaps. Leave a missed day blank and return when you can. Use the Week / Month switch and arrows to revisit earlier weeks or months whenever you want to see what you’ve done.
Frequently asked questions
Is this habit tracker free?
Yes. Use it in your browser as much as you like, with no account or subscription. Your habits save in this browser, and you can download a CSV record of your history.
Do I need to sign up?
No. You can start tracking straight away. Browser saving and downloads do not require an email address.
Does it have streaks?
No. Tick the days you show up and leave the others blank. Missing a day never resets your previous check-ins.
How many habits should I track?
Start with one or two so your daily check-in stays manageable. Add another when you feel ready.
How long does it take to build a habit?
There is no fixed number of days that works for everyone. The habit, your circumstances and the opportunities you have to repeat it all matter. Our guide below explains the research and its limits. Read the habit-building timeline.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The tracker works in modern browsers on phones, tablets and laptops. Your history stays in the browser and device you use, so it does not sync between them.
Where is my habit history saved?
Your habit names and check-ins are saved locally in this browser on this device. The tracker does not send those entries to our server. Clearing browser data, or closing a private browsing session, can remove your history. Download a CSV copy if you want a separate record. CSV files cannot be imported back into the tracker.
What can I track with it?
Any habit you want to do more often, from a daily walk to a minute of breathing or reading a few pages. Give it a specific name so you know what you are checking off.
